You do not need to pay anything to play. If you want to spend money to buy extra booster packs you can, but you can grind aaway in tournaments and make good trades in the market and find yourself with a great deck. Admittedly, it takes a while to grind yourself up to the expensive cards, but each pack you open you can get lucky. Open up a valuable card, sell it on the market and then pick up better cards for your deck. Next thing you know you are dominating and unlocking achievements all over.
Strategy Rules, Luck Drools
Yes. This game is almost all strategy. Somebody you can have bad cards and simply out smart your opponent for the win. People that are good with math and probability probably have the edge, but those that can bluff and make the right plays may have the even better edge. Each game lasts only 2-5minutes and in a one hour tournament you will probably play between 20-35 matches, depending how fast you and your opponents are. Its quick, its fun, and there is always something to do.
Play for Hours or Play for Minutes
Sometimes I will jump on for a few minutes and test out my deck, or try out a new card, or level up a guy. Sometimes I will spend an hour trying to unlock or complete a certain reward. Sometimes I spend all day playing tournaments trying to be #1 and hit the jackpot of credits. Its fun going into the shop on a spending spree buying packs left and right.
