The FINAL SCORE: Adsense vs Loose Change!

Google Adsense Vs Loose Change

The Challenge is Over!

If you havn't been following my Google Adsense VS Loose Change challenge, go back and check it out? I basically felt that I could find more money on the ground than I could with Google Adsense on my blogs Zombie Robot Frosting and the Bearded Bunny Art Blog. Thus the challenge was born.

It is no suprise that my Google Adsense Vs Loose Change blog has quickly become my most popular series of blogs. Over the last thirty days, I have been finding money in old houses, in laundry rooms, mall of america, on Minneapolis streets, in the snow, and at fast food windows. And every blog, I started the post with this question, which I will now ask for the last time:

Can I find more money on the ground, than I can earn with Google Adsense?

No. I can't find more change on the ground than I can make with Google Adsnese in thirty days.

The Final Score

In thirty days Adsense earned me: $7.12
In thirty days Loose Change amount found on the ground: $4.98

Google Adsense

When I started blogging, I did not blindly want to accept Google Adsnese as the godsend to bloggers. This was reenforced by my lack of success early on, using google adsense. I found Adbrite, a competitor to Adsense (Adbrite is the advertiser I currently use on this blog) and I ran a head to head Abrite Vs Adsense war. The winner......Google Adsense. Although Adbrite has some advantages, Google Adsense still seemed to be the smarter choice for new bloggers. Then I put Google's lack of success against loose change. And Google Adsense earned $7.24, the highest I've earned with Adsense since starting in October 2007. I must confess, despite my best efforts, Google Adsense is a very good way to earn income on your blogs. Just do not expect results, without really promoting your product. In fact, I just recetly reviewed ten blog traffic sources and their effectiveness for my new blogs, read myBlog Traffic review

Loose Change Vs Google Adsense (DAY 22-28)

Google Adsense Vs Loose Change

Two More Days

This is day 28 of a thirty day project. Only two days left until my blog study is over!

If you havn't been following my Google Adsense VS Loose Change challenge, where the heck have you been? I challenged Adsense to out earn the amount of money I could find on the ground. In old houses, in laundry rooms, mall of america I have been finding loose change all over the place. Google Adsense has been a dissapointment for me and my three blogs. Two Days remain and the question is still unanswered: Can I find more money on the ground, than I can earn with Google Adsense?

At mall of america I found some change at the food courts and I found 97 cents in my apartments laundry room, giving Google quite a challenge. Suprisingly Adsense has had its most productive month to date, and as of last post had the lead!

It is FREEZING here

Last post I was complaining about how cold it was, and how that would deter me from finding very much loose change. Since I will be avoiding doing much strolling around town. This was mostly a true prediction, except for the one time (breaking my new years resolution) I stopped at Taco Bell and looked down at the drive through to find 67 cent on the ground. The cold customers were not venturing out of the car to get their fallen change, I knew it was meant for me, and meant for this blog post.

Here is the breakdown of the last 6 days for loose change: (see previous stats)

Saturday the 19th: 11 cents
Sunday the 20th: 0 cents
Monday the 21st: 2 cents
Tuesday the 22nd: 1 cent

Wednesday the 23rd: 67 cents

Found at Taco Bell Drive thru

Thursday the 24th: 6 cents

Friday the 25th: 0 cents

new Loose Change Total: $4.91

Google Adsense

Google continually has patches of 1 cent to 4 cent days, and all of a sudden jumps up to over a dollar with a few clicks. The lucky thing for google's numbers this month is that I've had 3 days which have earned over 90% of the 28 days earnings. I figured if Google had one more big day in this last 6 six days, that barring finding a ten dollar bill on the ground the race might be over.

Google Adsense stats for the past 6 days: (see previous stats)

Saturday the 19th: 2 cents
Sunday the 20th: $1.19 cents
Monday the 21st: 1 cent
Tuesday the 22nd: 2 cents

Wednesday the 23rd: 3 cents

Thursday the 24th: 1 cent

Friday the 25th: 0 cents

new Google Adsense Total: $6.44

The Lead

Google now has a lead of $1.53 and I highly doubt I will find that much change on the ground in the next two days. Yet, if I happen to come across a goldmine of loose change, maybe Google has something to fear. I will make my final post in two days, and I will list all of the statistics in one big clean comparitive list.

Two Days Remain

Ever since I joined up for entrecard Google took the lead and has not looked back. The Adsense results are still nothing to write home about, but the last two days may prove successful. Who knows?

Two days before I crown a champion.

Loose Change Vs Google Adsense (DAY 21)

Google Adsense Vs Loose Change

Coin Shortage

This is day 21 of a thirty day project.

If you havn't been following my Google Adsense VS Loose Change challenge, where the heck have you been? Early on I was finding loose change all over the place, in old houses, in laundry rooms and Google Adsense was not making me anything. Then slowly Google Adsense started kicking in and giving my best earnings yet. But here is the 30 day challenge: Can I find more money on the ground, than I can earn with Google Adsense?

Last past I went to the sacred mall of america and found some change. Two posts ago I had found 97 cents in my apartments laundry room. I had a lot of luck finding large amounts of change scattered wherever I went, but Adsense has been lurking around every corner, and last post even took the earnings lead!

Last Three Days

Here in Minnesota it is freaking cold. -7 degree out right now as I write this, and even colder this weekend, it might even effect my change finding statistics, unless I can find some loose change in the numerous blankets I plan to wrap myself in all weekend. That being said, the last three days were a loose change success! Here's the break down.

Loose Change stats for the past three days: (see previous stats)

Wednesday the 16th: 6 cents found
Found on the street of Minneapolis and a few in the basement of a local coffee shop
Thursday the 17th: 56 cents found
Found in a mechanics shop waiting for my girlfriend to see if she wanted to buy a used car. Two hours we waited while I paced back a fourth scrounging for change. I ended up finding money on the ground, in abandoned glove compartment boxes and in the actual garage itself.
Friday the 18th: 2 cents found
Two cents found at the Walker Art Museum while looking at Frida Khalo's artwork.

new Loose Change Total: $4.04

Google Adsense

Twenty one days have now gone by. Google has been a rollercoaster of an earner this month, yet its spikes have been the best I've had. Although, the lows are as bad as ever. The last three days the red hot Google Adsense has cooled down, although still with enough buffer to be ahead by just over one dollar.

Google Adsense stats for the past five days: (see previous stats)
Wednesday the 16th: 1 cent earned
Thursday the 17th: 1 cent earned
Friday the 18th: 4 cents earned

new Google Adsense Total: $5.16

Nine Day Remain

It's the last leg of the competition. Adsense and Loose Change are closing in on the goal. Which of the two has what it takes to out earn the other? Google had a bad three days, however, I still contribute Google's previous success to the entrecard effect. While the initial boost it gave my blogs have worn off, there is still some lasting positive effects of entrecards link trading.

Nine days before I crown a champion.

Adsense's Revenge: where has all the loose change gone?

Google Adsense Vs Loose Change

Coin Shortage

This is day 18 of a thirty day project.

If you havn't been following my Google Adsense VS Loose Change challenge, you should go back a few posts and read about it. My lack of success with Google Adsense forced me to do a thirty day challenge: Can I find more money lying on the ground, or more money with Google Adsense?

In recent posts I was shocked with how much change I was finding on the ground. In my last post I had found 97 cents in my apartments laundry room. I had a lot of luck finding large amounts of change scattered wherever I went.

It seems the well has dried up.

Mall of America

So despite my previous statistics supporting the impressive change found, the last 5 days have been dismal. Yesterday, I did go to Mall of America. I found my first penny in the parking lot, and the second in the dollar tree. The clerk at the dollar tree told me to check out the food courts, "they are littered with pennies." This led me to the food courts and per her advice I found 24 cents in the food courts. Two dimes and four pennies. Good advice if you are looking for free change.

But, besides mall of america I only found 1 penny. Please note: if you click on the mall of america picture you can try to find me and my girlfriend dressed up like Waldo and Walda.

Loose Change stats for the past five days: (see previous stats)

Friday the 11th: 0 cents found
Saturday the 12th: 1 cent found
Sunday the 13th: 0 cents found
Monday the 14th: 26 cents found at mall of america
Tuesday the 15th: 0 cents found

new Loose Change Total: $3.40

Google Adsense

Eighteen days have gone by, and Google Adsense has pulled out a cyber blade, snuck up behind loose change and has the blade to its throat. Google Adsese was losing this battle until last week. Now Google is pulling ahead indefinately.

I am willing to wager that I good deal of this success is due to the entrecard effect. My impressions have doubled for both blogs involved in this study. My number of clicks have also doubled. The earnings have also reflected the positive attention entrecard is leading to my pages.

Google Adsense stats for the past five days: (see previous stats)

Friday the 11th: 5 cents earned
Saturday the 12th: 48 cents earned
Sunday the 13th: $1.32 cents earned
Monday the 14th: 9 cents earned
Tuesday the 15th: 0 cents

new Google Adsense Total: $5.10

A New Hope

Google Adsense took the lead away from loose change! Last update $1.71 was by far my biggest day ever for Adsense, and now another big day earning $1.32 has catapulted my earnings over five dollars. This is by far my best 18 days since starting my blogs in October. Google is now ahead by $1.50 improving its lead from just 3 cents 5 days ago. I pretty big swing. Has Google taken the lead for good, or will my travels bring upon another treasure of found coinage? The last 12 days will determine who will win this battle.

Loose Change Vs Google Adsense: Enter the Dirty Laundry Room

Google Adsense Vs Loose Change

Finding Loose Change

I have been overly suprised with my success finding money scattered on the ground in Minneapolis, common areas, buses, streets, sidewalks etc. On Tuesday I entered my apartments HOORIFYING laundry room. The place is dirty, most of the machines do not work and I was told to be weary of bums that tend to use the room to sleep in at times. The laundry room is also on the honor system....for some reason they gutted the quarter feed so you can retrieve your own quarters after each load.

The amazing thing here, is that I found ten cents in the laundry room only a few days previous. I had scanned the entire room for coins. This time, the dryer was not actually drying anything. Therefore, I was wandering around, looking under things while I waited around. Amazingly, after 15 minutes I have found 97 cents. Three quarters were lodges in an old broken washer, I had to displodge them from the tetanus filled jagged metal coin container.

Once again I impressed with the amount of loose change I am finding and Google Adsense is getting further and further behind in the statistics.

Learn how this battle came about by reading Adsense vs Loose Change. This is day 13 of a thirty day project.

Loose Change stats for the past three days:

Tuesday the 8th: 10 cents found
Wednesday the 9th: 97 cents found
Thursdayday the 10th: 0 cents found

new Loose Change Total: $3.13

Google

Everytime I think Adsense is out of the running to compete in this challenge, I am proven wrong. A big day for loose change typically, for no apparent reason, seems to mean a big day for Google Adsense. I even broke my all-time record for single day earnings. Shocking. My average is 5 cents per day, and Google gave me a $1.71 day. If I was good at percentages I would post that percentage increase here. With that said here is the three day results as google takes the first lead ever in the race:

Tuesday the 8th: $1.71
Wednesday the 9th: 4 cents
Thursdayday the 10th: 1 cent

new Adsense Total: $3.16

A New Leader

Google Adsense took the lead away from loose change! $1.71 was by far my biggest day, with 7 clicks getting er' done. Granted the lead is only 3 cents, and I seem to find a more consistent stream of coinage on the ground than I average with Google. We will see if I can stumble on some more loose change before google strikes again.

Loose Change found on the ground VS Google Adsense (DAY 7)

The Battle Heats Up

Ever since I started blogging (October 2007), and signed up for Google Adsense, I strongly feel that I can find more discarded change on the ground than I can make daily with Google Adsense. My first explains my views further, read the original Loose Change Vs Adsense post.

I started this 30 day project on December 28th. Things have really started to heat up, as I had two big days of finding change on the ground and also had two relatively big google adsense days. Read on...

Found Loose Change

My first day I found 11 cents on the ground, and immediately Google was far behind. My change finding challenge has been incredibly lucrative so far. I was moving out of the house I was renting (which is now foreclosed on) in Minneapolis, and into an apartment in Uptown. During this process I found 94 cents in my roommates empty room. He apparently has no need for change when he's got so much paper cash. His name is Matt and he is an artist, his website is here: www.catswilleatyou.com.

My second big day. On new years day, I went back to our foreclosed house to make one more sweep of the premises and in the process found 60 cents lying around in different areas of the house. Keep in mind this is a five bedroom house, which leave lots of areas to find change while checking for any left or forgotten items.

In the days inbetween, before and after I have found an additional 2 cents lying on the ground. Here is the loose change break down:

28th: 11 cents
29th: 95 cents
30th: 1 cent
31st: 60 cents
1st: 0 cents
2nd: 1 cent
3rd: 0 cents

Found Loose Change 7 day Total: $1.68

A very impressive first seven days of the challenge. After my 95 cent day I assumed Google was out of the running already. Little did I know I was going to have two impressive google adsense days as well....

Google Adsense

I have explained before my frustration with Google Adsense and the fact that it is very hard to get any sort of consistency. I have had a number of people yell at me that I do not have enough page impressions to make any significant amounts of money with adsense. I am working on my page impressions.

To see my money totals in 2007 for adsense and other products feel free to read my 2007 $$$ Blog Totals. My best adsense month was $5 but average around a dollar and a half per month.

Given some semi success with my last couple blog posts on Zombie Robot Frosting and The Bearded Bunny Art Blog I have managed a pretty respectable first seven days of my challenge.

Google's first seven days:

28th: 2 cents
29th: 30 cents
30th: 4 cents
31st: 2 cents
1st: 43 cents
2nd: 1 cent
3rd: 11 cents

Google Adsense 7 day Total: $0.91

Amazingly Adsense is still in the running, but still quite a bit behind. I do not forsee finding large amounts of change on the ground in the near future and if adsense continues to produce it might take the cake in the long run. The next 23 days should prove interesting.

7 Day EARNINGS Scoreboard

1/3/07- Adsense: $0.91
Money on ground: $1.68

I find more change on the ground than I make with Google Adsense

Discarded Change

Ever since I started blogging (October 2007), and signed up for Google Adsense, I strongly feel that I can find more discarded change on the ground than I can make daily with Google Adsense.

Starting today, I am going to start picking up any pennies, dimes or nickels I find on the ground (I'm not going hunting, but if I happen to notice it in my daily routine) and I am going to keep running totals of each. I have a good notion that I will find more pennies on the ground then I will make with Adsense.

This will be a one month project.

Frustration

I admit that this project stems from my dissatisfaction with Google Adsense. I hear of many new blogs making money with Adsense, but I hear of a lot more making little to none. It is frustrating when your readership grows and the blog gets better and better, and yet the Adsense stats do not reflect the success. Therefore, my frustration is pitting Google's pennies against the discarded dirty pennies on the ground.

Day One

This morning I found a dime in the snow. This afternoon I found a penny in front of my store. Adsense has made me only one cent so far today.

12/28/07- Adsense: $0.01
Money on ground: $0.11
