Adbrite (Google's Adsense nemesis) update!

Adbrite

In January 2008, I announced Google's Adsense a winner in my blog battle Adbrite Vs Adsense. Recently, Adbrite has become even more profitable for my blogging profits. My battle pitted the two advertisers against each other with my brand new blogs as they emerged. Both the zombie robot frosting blog and this Blog Blog Cherry's statistics were closely followed. See the very first Adbrite Vs Adsense blog, which explained the results after 20 days.

Adsense was declared the winner, as it out earned Adbrite in the 40 day race. While both products only earned me minimal amounts, Adsense eeked out the advantage. Meanwhile, Adbrite has slowly made me some decent referral money.

Referral Cash

If you were a new blogger, or looking to use something besides Adsense you can click on the adbrite box at the top of this blog, and switch over. If you do, my referral earnings has potential to make more money. In nearly 6 months I have earned over 4 dollars from referral revenue. While, my adbrite clicks have not been earnining me very much money the referrals at times can make my 91 cents in a day.

Cash per click

Even though I recieve less clicks on my adbrite ads, I still earn more money per click with Adbrite than I do with Adsense. Plus, I love being able to control what ads do and do not appear on my website. This control makes it a lot more engaging for bloggers.

Critique

In the very start of Blog Blog Cherry I wrote a Adbrite review, which explained my hopes and untested review, like the ability to see how much each advertiser pays per click. You can literally weed through bad ads, or low paying ads, leaving only the most content specific and highest paying ads on your page. With only a little management adbrite allows for far better control and use of your advertisers. However, bad links leak into the system daily, and some very obvious ad links show, which causes very clickable links to be revealed as obvious ads. I think this issue caused Adbrite clicks to remain very very low.

February Blogging vomits 12 dollars into my cyber pocket

As February 2008 ends, I have also finished my fifth month of blogging! Originally, I started Zombie Robot Frosting, which slowly spawned into Blog Blog Cherry (this blog) and then also the Bearded Bunny Art Blog.

Project Wonderful

Another source of small income is Project Wonderful. Using project wonderful you immediately sell space on your blog in an instant bid fashion. High traffic blogs can make very good money this way, and I really like how the site works. You can choose from a vast number of spaces to sell on your blog. This is a neat way to earn a few dollars a month, plus its an extremely cheap and effective way to advertise your own products/ websties as well.

Adbrite

Early on my blogging travels I wanted to try something on this blog besides Google Adsense. Adbrite was the best contender, although it has taken some time to generate much income. See my blog series where I reviewed Adbrite head to head against adsense in my adbrite Vs adsensechallenge. You can see adbrite on this blog on the sidebar and at the bottom of the page. Adbrite was started on November 16th. February 2008 was its best production, and for the first time ever is my biggest income source for February.
Income: $3.80

Google Adsense

Last month, during my Google Adsense Vs Loose Change challenge Adsense managed to earn 7.12! Which was by far the most I have earned with Adsense. However, the month before and this month the total has once again dropped to a dismal number. My total is less than half of last months big number. This means Adbrite (despite less impressions and clicks) has outearned Google Adsense in February.
Income: $3.25 cents


Widgetbucks

Widgetbucks has never been too impressive for my blogs. However, it does trickle in slowly and I plan to stick it out to eventually earn my bonus $25 when I cash out. Vume
Vume (pronounced 'view me') is a photobucket style site, that allows upload and storage of pictures, audio or video. The cool thing about this site, is that it pays you $3 per 1000 views. I have not had enough time to funnel my pictures through Vume lately. The first thing I stop doing when I am cramped for time is skip Vume. Thus, we I only earned one dime. I now have considered the effort not worth the money, since I project it will take me three years to reach the $25 cash out minimum. Not worth it!
Income: $0.16 cents

Total funds (February): $12.06

February fell a dollar short of my record month in January. It is still above my typically blogging average of 7 dollars per month. Still far below what I originally wanted to be earning ($25 per month). My biggest struggle is gaining a consistent flow of traffic day to day. Boosting those numbers will boost all of my statistics.

The Challenge is Over!

If you havn't been following my Google Adsense VS Loose Change challenge, go back and check it out? I basically felt that I could find more money on the ground than I could with Google Adsense on my blogs Zombie Robot Frosting and the Bearded Bunny Art Blog. Thus the challenge was born.

It is no suprise that my Google Adsense Vs Loose Change blog has quickly become my most popular series of blogs. Over the last thirty days, I have been finding money in old houses, in laundry rooms, mall of america, on Minneapolis streets, in the snow, and at fast food windows. And every blog, I started the post with this question, which I will now ask for the last time:

Can I find more money on the ground, than I can earn with Google Adsense?

No. I can't find more change on the ground than I can make with Google Adsnese in thirty days.

The Final Score

In thirty days Adsense earned me: $7.12
In thirty days Loose Change amount found on the ground: $4.98

Google Adsense

When I started blogging, I did not blindly want to accept Google Adsnese as the godsend to bloggers. This was reenforced by my lack of success early on, using google adsense. I found Adbrite, a competitor to Adsense (Adbrite is the advertiser I currently use on this blog) and I ran a head to head Abrite Vs Adsense war. The winner......Google Adsense. Although Adbrite has some advantages, Google Adsense still seemed to be the smarter choice for new bloggers. Then I put Google's lack of success against loose change. And Google Adsense earned $7.24, the highest I've earned with Adsense since starting in October 2007. I must confess, despite my best efforts, Google Adsense is a very good way to earn income on your blogs. Just do not expect results, without really promoting your product. Is Adbrite better than Adsense? (FINAL REPORT)

Late last year I began an adveriting battle between google adsense and adbrite. I wanted to test how well each advertiser would do with brand new blogs as they emerged. Both the zombie robot frosting blog and this Blog Blog Cherry's statistics were closely followed. See the very first Adbrite Vs Adsense blog, which explained the results after 20 days.

To make these statistics as fair as I can, I am using Adsense statistics from the very beginning of my blogging experience, and matching it with Adbrite's numbers at the very start of this blog. I have finished the results after 40 days, this should give any new bloggers a good reference for deciding which product to host on their new and emerging blogs.

The reason the battle is ending at 40 days, is because at day 40 I opened my art blog which also used adsense, thus altering those statistics drastically. I no longer could make fair comparisons to Adbrite, which is still only running on Blog Blog Cherry.

Statistical Breakdown
Note: keep in mind these are stats for the literal first forty days of each blog, therefore numbers are expected to be very low. Also feel free to see my 20 day results and 10 day results

Google Adsense:
clicks: 27
twenty day earnings: $2.25

Adbrite
clicks: 9
twenty day earnings: $1.16

Critique
In the very start of Blog Blog Cherry I wrote a Adbrite review, which explained my hopes and untested review, like the ability to see how much each advertiser pays per click. You can literally weed through bad ads, or low paying ads, leaving only the most content specific and highest paying ads on your page. With only a little management adbrite allows for far better control and use of your advertisers. However, bad links leak into the system daily, and some very obvious ad links show, which causes very clickable links to be revealed as obvious ads. I think this issue caused Adbrite clicks to remain very very low.

Adsense on the other hand had a whole different bag of negatives. Adsense had very clickable links (although it did have more page impressions on average than my adbrite campaign) which resulted in three times as many clicks as Adbrites 40 day total. Meanwhile, Adsense still had 22 of 40 days with $0.00 earnnings. In fact, besides two very valuable days, Adsense averaged under $0.02 per day. Adsense had two days, one which earned $1.16 and another day earning $0.60 cents. The one big day for Adsense, equaled the entire Adbrite 40 day total. Overall Adsense actually average less money per 1000 impressions. Adsense $0.66 cents per 1000 page impressions and Adbrite averaged $0.77 per 1000 page impressions. Making the results a bit gray.

Mixed Feelings
My adsense numbers after the 40 days have had some improved success, but this is also due to higher page impression numbers. Adbrite is a much more consistent monster, but seems to need a lit more advertising maitenance. I am willing to say that if you are a new blogger and you have the time to manage ads multiple times a week, getting rid of low earning ads, non-related, and obvious ad links then Adbrite is the better of the two.

However, if you want some easy results which some days can surprise you while most days will dissapoint, then Adsense is the place to go. If you can muster a good deal of impressions and traffic it seems to be a very lucrative advertising method. Adbrite even with its advantages falls short for those wanting to simply spend time on blogging and not managing ads.

I starting blogging less than 90 days ago. Originally, I started Zombie Robot Frosting, which just recently spawned into Blog Blog Cherry (this blog) and then also the Bearded Bunny Art Blog.

Note: All of my statistics have been varying a lot since this only month three of my blogging experience. This should give new bloggers an idea of what to expect if starting a new blog within 90 days.

Early on, Google Adsense was showing me very little results on my blogs, I decided to go searching for another product like adsense and found Adbrite. I have reviewed Adbrite head to head with adsense in my adbrite Vs adsense blog. You can see adbrite on this blog on the sidebar and at the bottom of the page. Adbrite was started on November 16th.
Monthly Income: $0.78
Yearly Total: $1.17

Adroll
I was contacted by Adroll staff, asking if I wanted to try out their new advertising product. The products works in sync with adsense or adbrite type website advertising. It sells ads in the same spaces, for more than the competitor. Potentially, it could generate better paying ads on my blogs. I started November 28th, and in the first 35 days have had zero clicks. I am becomming skeptical if this product will work for me. My lack of success may be due to my low page impression count, I can invite other bloggers, so if you want to try out this product, please comment and I will send you an invite.

Widgetbucks
See my Widgetbucks performance review. This is my first 30 days using WB. Singing up with WB offers $25 free dollars, which is a nice incentive to try it out. The product is very new, and just started paying out the first earnings. Hopefully their are no hitches in the system as it seems to be a decent product for bloggers. I am a big fan of the green products that appear on my page since I do support green products awarness. 14 clicks in November.

Google Adsense
After a very turtle-like start, my adsense was finally showing some promise. This month I seem to have dipped back into the mediocre level. I seem to get very inconsistent results day-by-day. Running adsense on my Bearded Bunny Art Blog and Zombie Robot Frosting has netted me just over 2 dollar, and nearly 8 dollars for the year. Keep in mind, November I made a record 5 dollars with Google Adsense.
Income: $2.16 cents
Yearly Income: $7.77

Voxant Newsroom
On my Zombie Robot Frosting blog I have news videos to embeded on my page. In month one, this was my favorite and best source of income for the blog. I did realize that I had the video set to auto play for viewers, generating me income but annoying all viewers. December was even less fruitful than the unimpressive November totals, as I also had problem with the player loading cropped. So currently, I do not even have the player on my blog.
Income: $0.09 cents
Yearly Income: $3.78 cents

Vume
Vume (pronounced 'view me') is a photobucket style site, that allows upload and storage of pictures, audio or video. The cool thing about this site, is that it pays you $3 per 1000 views. I was using this site to host my blog pictures and since the start of my blogging. Sadly, it has gone through some rough periods here, good things it seems to back to functioning and I made a measly profit in December, yet slightly higher than last month. It rounds out the year almost making 3 and a half dollars.
Income: $0.23 cents
Yearly Income: $3.43 cents

Total funds (December): $6.01
Yearly Blogging Funds (2007): $22.82

Note: I want to stress the fact that this is month #3 in my short blogging experience, and the yearly total is not a full year. Yet, I did want to calculate the numbers so at the end of 2008 I have something to gauge my success against. The $6 December total shows some disappointments in all areas, although my post number and page impressions did go slightly down in a stressful month of moving and holidays. I still want to run a post about my page impression strategies soon, Blog Rush, Blog Catalog and more.

October 5th I began my journey with Google adsense. I started posting adsense on my zombie robot frosting blog. Ten days ago I started this blog, Blog Blog Cherry using Adbrite as my advertising focus. Here I will post the results from each product after twenty days of results.

Statistical Breakdown
Note: keep in mind these are stats for the literal first twenty days of each blog, therefore numbers are expected to be very low. Also feel free to see my 10 day results

Google Adsense:
page impressions: 1946

Adbrite

Critique
As I mentioned in my Adbrite review, Adbrite has advantages, like seeing exactly how much each advertiser pays per click. You can literally weed through bad ads, or low paying ads, leaving only the most content specific and highest paying ads on your page. With only a little management adbrite allows for far better control and use of your advertisers.

A Fair Fight?
The impression numbers are still off by quite a bit from this blog to my zombie robot frosting blog. However, it is still interesting to note the difference in earnings by click. Hopefully I can raise the amount of hits to this blog. Thanks for readings.

I starting blogging less than 60 days ago. Originally, I started Zombie Robot Frosting, which just recently spawned into Blog Blog Cherry (this blog) and the Bearded Bunny Blog which is about art.

Early on, Google Adsense was showing me very little results on my blogs, I decided to go searching for another product like adsense and found Adbrite. I have reviewed Adbrite head to head with adsense in my adbrite Vs adsense blog. You can see adbrite on this blog on the sidebar and at the bottom of the page. Adbrite was started on November 16th.
Income: $0.39

Adroll
I was contacted by Adroll staff, asking if I wanted to try out their new advertising product. The products works in sync with adsense or adbrite type website advertising. It sells ads in the same spaces, for more than the competitor. Potentially, it could generate better paying ads on my blogs. I started November 28th, and in the first 5 days have had zero clicks. Auction Ads
Failure! I did not find this to be a realistic source of income for my blogs. The banner posted ads for products for sale, I generate nothing for click throughs, however if a viewer purchased the item from the click through I would get a percent of the profit. I found the odds of someone buying something extremely unlikely, especially because I did not find the products very appealing personally. It no longer appears on my blog.

Widgetbucks

October 5th I began my journey with Google adsense. I started posting adsense on my zombie robot frosting blog. Ten days ago I started this blog, Blog Blog Cherry using Adbrite as my advertising focus. Here I will post the results from each product after ten days of results.

Google Adsense:
page impressions: 756
clicks: 7
ten day earnings: $0.06

Adbrite
page impressions: 324
clicks: 1
ten day earnings: $0.15

Critique
As I mentioned in my last post, that Adbrite has advantages, like choosing which ads will be acceptable on your page and knowing exactly how much each specific ad can generate (this can range from $.05 to $1.60). While Google adsense had better numbers for impressions (which has more to do with people visiting my site than anything) still Adbrite's one single click generated nearly 3 times the earnings in the first 10 days. It will be interesting to see how this earnings battle plays out.

A Fair Fight?
To make this head to head war as fair as possible I need to try to equalize the page impressions for blog blog cherry. This will mean a number of posts about relevant topics and finding people to come see the content. Ten days is not much to go on at this time, but it will be interesting to see the statistics as time goes on.

Adbrite Vs Adsense

Website Advertising
If you are online reading this post right now, you directly or indirectly have seen tons of online advertising. Ads embedding into text, content specific ads on the right sidebar, bottom of the page. Pop- up ads floating around, animated banners at the top of your page beckoning you to win a free ringtone. The world of online advertising is a multi million dollar industry.

Google Adsense
The most popular and accessable advertising product for casual or serious bloggers is the infamous google adsense. Popular blogs can make thousands of dollars a month with google adsense. Granted, most low traffic blogs will only generate a few pennies (similar to my blog). Some have considered Adsense to have cornered the market when it comes to online advertising. However...

Adbrite
In the door comes another advertising product called Adbrite. Adbrite works almost identicle to Adsense, as it allows you to post code onto your blog or website which will feature content specific ads based on your website's subject matter. Both sites give you the option to craft the ads that will be placed on your site, gives you a page counter, and displays your earnings up to the hour.

The Difference
Obviously, Google's adsense is the more credible of the two products. However, Adbrite brings to the table a few features that sets it apart from google. One feature includes detailed listings of each ad, how much the ad is worth, and whether or not you want to block the ad from your page. It will literally list every ad that could appear on your page. You can even set your setting so that no ad appears on your page without approval. This can be advantageous for a couple reasons:
1. it can allow you to have the most relevant ads on your page, therefore becoming most likely to be clicked.
2. it can allow you to reject any low paying ad, and therefore allow only higher revenue ads. Maximizing your profits.

The battle begins. I am now running adbrite here on my new blog, Blog Blog Cherry. On my other blog, Zombie Robot Frosting, started in October, I am running Google Adsense. I will compare the results, page impressions, earnings, revenue, and the features that allow me to maximize my results. Every month I will compare the results and let people know which of the two advertising programs I recommend for your blog.
